ViennaSchoolOff (short VSOff) is an emerging group that has formed within the framework of “Wiener Perspektive” (WP). ViennaSchoolOff has both an ironic and serious agenda. It suggests an indirect relationship to the Vienna Circle (Wiener Kreis) and the Viennese School (Wiener Schule). This "Vienna School" is, also pointing at the lack of post gradual education in the field of choreography in Austria and aims to play with the gap of this shortage.
VSOff consists of mostly female dance and performance practitioners, scholars of different countries and generations who all share the interest in thinking and developing ideas and strategies concerning dance and performance education. Most of the members are teachers, trainers or in some sense involved with the practice of education. VSOff is an experimental, fresh playground for the trying out of educational methods and models for the sharing of knowledge and experience on and around dance and performance. In that regard we want to focus on, but not restrict ourselves to peer-to-peer learning which implies a certain level of experience and independence in artistic, dance and education practice.
