In these classes we travel around the world through folk music and dance. We share moments of joy and movement in connection with others in a relaxed spirit and in an accessible practice to people of all experience levels. We improve our body expression, cardiorespiratory capacity, coordination and musicality while keeping alive the cultural memory of diverse folk.
Session structure
- body awareness practices
- notions of movement, space and connection through contemporary practices
- choreography
- historic contextualization
- stretching and relaxation practices
This structure aims to develop
- physical skills: alignment, muscle tone, motor coordination, proprioception, balance, flexibility, laterality and joint mobilization.
- specific dance skills: differentiation of movement quality, ability to improvise, ability to reproduce the same choreographic sequence in different directions.
- musical skills: rhythmic and melodic identification and reproduction, notions of pulse and tempo.
The dances to be learned will depend on the knowledge and experience of the group.
In these sessions, I promote autonomy, versatility and the use of inclusive vocabulary.
*Important: to wear flexible, comfortable and warm clothing in layers, sport or dance shoes for studio practice only. Bring water botle.
